Job description

About Ghanem

Ghanem is a technology company focused on real estate investment solutions in Saudi Arabia. Our platform integrates investor onboarding, identity verification, investment opportunities, wallets, payments, and portfolio management. We develop both mobile and web customer experiences as well as the operational tools and integrations supporting the entire investment lifecycle.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to take ownership of the infrastructure and delivery systems supporting Ghanem. The role requires ensuring the safety of software releases, maintaining reliability of customer-facing and financial services, and managing environments to be secure, repeatable, and easy to operate. This hands-on position carries ultimate accountability for production stability and enhancing developer efficiency.

Engineering Environment

Our stack includes Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Terraform, Docker, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Helm, and Kustomize. Backend services utilize Java with Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and Redis. For monitoring and operations, we use Google Cloud logging and monitoring tools, gcloud CLI, kubectl, and application telemetry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize GCP and GKE infrastructure environments (production, staging, internal), handling networking, ingress, TLS certificates, workload configuration, and scaling.
  • Maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and GitOps practices employing Argo CD, Helm, and Kustomize. Ensure configurations are reproducible, peer-reviewed, and recoverable.
  • Enhance GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for backend, web, and mobile projects, including build runners, artifact management, quality gates, and automated deployments.
  • Develop reliable release and rollback processes, coordinating application updates, database migrations, configuration adjustments, and validation post-deployment.
  • Create effective monitoring and alerting for service availability, latency, error rates, and capacity; conduct incident investigations using Google Cloud tools, structured logs, and Kubernetes diagnostics.
  • Strengthen identity and access management (IAM), Workload Identity, secret handling, access controls, and environment isolation; assist with security reviews and evidence collection.
  • Oversee backup and disaster recovery operations collaboratively with service owners, perform restore verification, and maintain comprehensive incident and recovery runbooks.
  • Drive improvements in cost efficiency and capacity planning without sacrificing reliability; reduce manual operational tasks and assist engineers in diagnosing platform issues.

Success Criteria

Deliverables include predictable software releases, fully reproducible environments, easier detection and resolution of incidents, effective recovery protocols, controlled access, and managed infrastructure expenditures.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering with direct handling of production systems.
  • Proficient in GCP and Kubernetes, including GKE, IAM, networking, Workload Identity, storage, and service exposure.
  • Hands-on Terraform skills, including developing modular configurations, managing state, investigating drift, and applying controlled updates.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines and managing GitOps delivery using GitHub Actions and Argo CD.
  • Strong expertise in Linux, container technologies, network troubleshooting, and scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar.
  • Familiar with cloud observability tools, incident response procedures, backup processes, recovery testing, and managing database-backed applications.
  • Capable of articulating operational risk, documenting workflows, and collaborating with engineers to resolve cross-service failures.

Preferred Skills

  • Background in fintech or environments with sensitive data demanding high reliability and audit standards.
  • Experience using Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL, Redis, Google Secret Manager, External Secrets, and Workload Identity Federation.
  • Knowledge of self-hosted GitHub Actions runners, mobile build/release pipelines with Flutter, mobile signing, or OpenTelemetry instrumentation.
