Settify is an Australian legal technology company dedicated to assisting lawyers to better serve their clients. We operate internationally in partnership with leading legal practice management groups, offering innovative AI-backed tools that help clients create and present their personal legal stories more easily and effectively. Our product integrates seamlessly with practice management software to minimize repeated data entry and streamline legal workflows.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the management and modernization of our AWS infrastructure, supporting a complete product rebuild leveraging TypeScript and AI technologies. This Sydney-based, flexible hybrid position involves close collaboration with developers to enhance build, deployment, and operational processes while overseeing our cloud environments, including expansion into new regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and administer AWS infrastructure using infrastructure as code, managing networking, compute, databases, and queuing systems with cost efficiency in mind.
- Establish and maintain regional cloud environments for straightforward deployment, configuration, and maintenance as the product expands globally.
- Enhance CI/CD pipelines to facilitate reliable building, testing, release, and rollback of changes by developers.
- Implement comprehensive logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting to improve production visibility and assist in troubleshooting issues.
- Support large language model (LLM) capabilities by configuring model access, tracing, and evaluation pipelines to monitor prompt and model performance in production.
- Ensure stringent security of customer data through management of permissions, secrets, encryption, and backups.
- Automate repetitive tasks, develop helpful tools, contribute to application code for better development and deployment workflows, and thoroughly document processes.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Eight or more years’ experience in DevOps, site reliability engineering, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
- Strong proficiency with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, SQS, RDS, and DynamoDB.
- Expertise in VPC networking, IAM roles and policies, access control, and secrets management.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like ECS or Kubernetes (including EKS).
- Skilled in infrastructure as code tools like CDK or Terraform; capable of designing CI/CD pipelines, automating testing, rollouts, and rollbacks.
- Knowledge of monitoring and alerting platforms such as Datadog, Grafana with Prometheus, or AWS CloudWatch; adept in production troubleshooting and participating in on-call rotations.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming with TypeScript/Node.js or Python, including writing tools, tests, and performing code reviews.
Desirable Additional Skills
- Experience with LLM services such as Amazon Bedrock, including API integration and managing rate limits, retries, and timeouts.
- Familiarity with LLM observability and evaluation tools like Langfuse for tracing, token usage, cost and latency monitoring, and performance pipelines.
- Experience deploying applications in new cloud regions.
- Development of developer tooling and scripts to simplify local setup, testing, and deployment workflows.
- Background in product engineering, particularly in SaaS, LegalTech, or early-stage startup environments.
- Knowledge of product observability and analytics tools such as PostHog.
Personal Attributes
- Clear and concise communicator who collaborates positively and openly.
- Motivated by making tangible impacts that benefit users and their communities.
- Pragmatic thinker, balancing quality with development speed effectively.
- Curious and inquisitive, always seeking deeper understanding and improved solutions.
