Join a rapidly expanding Platform Engineering team as a Senior DevOps Engineer, based in London with hybrid working. This full-time permanent role offers you the chance to lead cloud infrastructure projects, enhance automation, and embed DevOps best practices across a complex IT landscape within a technology-centric insurance company.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion the implementation of DevOps culture, including automation and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) techniques across the organisation.
• Create, refine, and maintain reusable Azure DevOps YAML pipeline templates adhering to standardized workflows.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to IT engineering staff across teams.
• Own technical projects end-to-end, ensuring compliance with quality and delivery standards.
• Collaborate closely with software engineering, infrastructure, and Enterprise Architecture teams to design and deploy resilient, scalable cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Evaluate and review changes to CI/CD pipelines to maintain consistency, stability, and best practices.
• Develop self-service capabilities for engineering teams that balance ease of use with security and governance.
• Continuously identify and implement improvements in existing processes, infrastructure, and automation efforts.
• Advise stakeholders on technical risks, trade-offs, and business impacts related to cloud solutions.
• Support cloud platform components including networking, security, system monitoring, and high availability setup.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and change logs to keep relevant parties informed.
• Participate in rotational out-of-hours support for critical incidents to ensure operational reliability.

Candidate Profile

• Proactive, hands-on senior-level DevOps engineer with proven expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud technologies.
• Strong background with Azure DevOps, including Boards and YAML/Classic pipelines, capable of creating shared reusable templates.
• Experienced with Azure PaaS and SaaS services alongside container platforms like Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Docker.
• Knowledgeable in infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and configuration management using Ansible and PowerShell scripting.
• Good understanding of Azure networking constructs, including virtual networks (VNets) and load balancing solutions.
• Well-versed in implementing Azure policies, role-based access control (RBAC), and enforcing cloud security best practices.
• Familiar with security technologies like Web Application Firewall (WAF), bot protection, DDoS mitigation, and platforms like Cloudflare.
• Experienced in setting up and enhancing monitoring and alerting frameworks.
• Sound knowledge of Azure Landing Zone principles, cloud disaster recovery strategies, Active Directory, and VMware environments.
• Excellent communication abilities, analytical mindset, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Capable mentor and team collaborator who can independently make technical decisions.
