About the Role
Join the TikTok USDS Video Platform team, a leading global video system offering multimedia storage, transcoding, and delivery services. The team is responsible for next-generation video processing platforms used by billions worldwide. As a Senior Data Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the reliability and performance of TikTok's video data systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of data services and real-time/batch data pipelines, including SLA management, deployment, tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Continuously monitor and diagnose data pipelines and system health to detect performance degradation, errors, or anomalies.
- Develop internal tools, alerts, and dashboards; spearhead process improvement initiatives and automation for data engineering workflows.
- Enhance system reliability and efficiency by scaling infrastructure, optimizing resource usage and processing workflows, and refactoring code or innovating new solutions.
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable and resilient data pipelines and infrastructure aligned with business needs.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in data engineering and video architecture domains.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in software/system engineering.
- Proficiency in SQL plus at least one programming language among Java, Python, Go, or Scala.
- Experience in data engineering with emphasis on reliability, scalability, performance, and capacity management of data systems.
- Hands-on experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Flink, YARN) and both SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with data pipeline workflow tools such as Airflow or Luigi.
- Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure is advantageous.
Preferred Skills
- Proven ability to independently troubleshoot complex issues within large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong communication and coordination capabilities.
