Role Overview
We seek a Senior Data Scientist to influence and evolve both consumer- and business-oriented products. You will apply your expertise in quantitative modeling, statistical rigor, experimentation, and algorithm development to solve complex challenges, collaborating closely with product, engineering, design, research, and analytics teams. Your insights will elevate product development serving hundreds of millions worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and advocate best practices in instrumentation and experimentation for product engineering teams aligning with Pinterest's mission.
- Apply scientific methods and statistical analysis to enhance product design and development with attention to user behaviors.
- Create and refine iterative analysis pipelines at scale, deepening understanding of data structures and advocating metric enhancements relevant to product growth.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and communicate critical insights with stakeholders including product managers, engineers, designers, and researchers.
- Utilize AI tools to accelerate tasks such as drafting, prototyping, outlining, and exploring alternatives.
- Employ AI for synthesizing information, summarizing themes, and automating repetition like documentation, reporting, and quality assurance checks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum five years of experience performing data analysis in dynamic, data-centric environments, implementing scientific methods to address large-scale web data problems.
- Strong background in quantitative fields such as Statistics, Machine Learning, Forecasting, or Econometrics for analytical problem-solving.
- Prior exposure to analytic challenges within digital advertising is advantageous.
- Knowledge of online experimentation frameworks and potential biases.
- Commitment to rigorous scientific and statistical integrity, skepticism, attention to detail, and output quality.
- Proficiency in handling complex, high-dimensional datasets; expertise in SQL or equivalent database languages and scripting languages like Python or R.
- Exceptional communication skills capable of conveying findings to diverse audiences including product and machine learning teams.
- Effective teamwork skills with ability to partner across leadership to translate insights swiftly into practical measures.
- Demonstrated use of AI to enhance workflow efficiency and quality in routine outputs.
- Proven experience in critically verifying AI-generated work through methods such as testing, validation, and peer review.
- High ethical standards and accountability when managing sensitive data; responsible use of AI and ultimate ownership of deliverables.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

- No relocation assistance is provided; candidates may work remotely within Ontario but are expected to attend in-person collaboration sessions 1-2 times per half-year.
