Job description
Overview
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join HDFC Bank's Tech & Digital team. This role involves writing data extraction queries, providing Management Information System (MIS) support, and collaborating closely with various departments including Operations, Finance, and Regulatory functions. The position is based in Mumbai, with potential locations including Bangalore, Chennai, and Gurgaon.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute SQL queries to extract data from multiple banking systems such as Flexcube, Lasersoft, FinOne, Debos, RAM, and BASEL.
- Deliver MIS reports and data extracts to diverse business units on daily, weekly, fortnightly, and monthly schedules using tools like Power BI and Tableau.
- Prepare scheduler shell scripts and fine-tune MIS queries to optimize performance.
- Manage change control processes related to MIS applications, utilities, and tools used by the team.
- Interface with stakeholders across Operations, Product, Branch Banking, Audit, and other teams to understand and fulfill MIS requirements.
- Conduct error tracking, undertake bug fixes, and perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for data extraction applications developed by the internal teams.
- Ensure timely data submission adhering to agreed Turnaround Times (TAT) and review MIS reports before publication.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree such as BE, BTech, BSc (any specialization), BCA, or MCA.
- Strong technical and programming capabilities, particularly with SQL and PLSQL.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud platforms, Databricks, Spark Streaming, and Kafka.
- Good analytical aptitude and understanding of risk management principles.
- Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes.
Experience
Applicants should have between 8 and 11 years of professional experience. Prior exposure to the banking sector is advantageous.
