Senior Data Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer or Data & Analytics Consultant based in Auckland or Wellington, New Zealand, to join dataengine. Our mission is to enable organizations to harness the power of their data through contemporary cloud platforms, analytics, artificial intelligence, and practical implementation.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cutting-edge data platforms, analytics tools, and data products tailored to client needs.
• Lead initiatives involving Snowflake and dbt, including deployment, performance optimization, and scalability improvements.
• Collaborate closely with clients to address and resolve intricate data and analytics problems.
• Contribute to projects focused on data architecture, governance, automation, and modernization of platforms.

Candidate Profile

• Brings over 8 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Data Architecture roles.
• Extensive hands-on expertise with Snowflake and dbt within production settings.
• In-depth knowledge of Snowflake covering architecture design, security protocols, governance, data sharing, performance tuning, and workload management.
• Proficient in developing dbt transformations, models, macros, testing frameworks, and continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering enterprise-level cloud data platforms from conception through ongoing support.
• Strong skills in SQL, data modeling, and contemporary analytics architectures.
• Experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or equivalents.
• Excellent consulting abilities, communication skills, and adeptness in managing stakeholder relationships.
• Capable of leading both business and technical workshops effectively.
• Comfortable managing multiple client engagements simultaneously.
• Resides in Auckland or Wellington, and able to visit client locations as required.
