Senior Data Architect – Semantic Modeling with Databricks, PySpark & SQL in Banking Sector

About the Role

Join a reputed multinational entity with over 50 years of experience and a presence in 60+ countries, delivering specialized data and analytics services predominantly in financial sectors. As a Senior Data Architect based in Jeddah, you will leverage your expertise in semantic modeling and advanced data technologies to support AI, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives within the banking domain.

Primary Responsibilities

• Create and maintain enterprise semantic data models that facilitate AI and analytics-driven decision-making processes.
• Establish and manage business key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and data hierarchies ensuring accurate and consistent data representation.
• Develop and optimize semantic and logical data layers for AI agents, reporting structures, and advanced analytical use cases.
• Design high-performing, reusable SQL semantic views and data assets that enhance accessibility and efficiency.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to seamlessly integrate semantic layers with larger data platforms and products.
• Engage with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable semantic data frameworks.
• Promote data governance and maintain standardized business definitions across various data domains.
• Support AI and generative AI initiatives by enabling robust, context-enriched data consumption methodologies.
• Ensure semantic models are properly optimized for scalability, performance, and user-friendliness.
• Contribute to best practices around data architecture, quality assurance, and metadata management.

Required Skills and Experience

• Extensive hands-on experience with Databricks, PySpark, and SQL for data architecture roles.
• Proficiency in Oracle databases and enterprise-level data platform ecosystems.
• In-depth knowledge of semantic and dimensional modeling, along with data product development.
• Proven ability to define and operationalize business metrics such as KPIs and measures.
• Strong understanding of relational and analytical data modeling methodologies.
• Experience in building semantic layers tailored for business intelligence, analytics, and AI applications.
• Familiarity with metadata governance, data stewardship, and the use of business glossaries.
• Awareness of AI and generative AI use cases related to data consumption patterns.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in large-scale data modernization projects and cloud-based data platforms.
• Exposure to Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Agentic AI, or similar enterprise AI technologies.
• Understanding of modern frameworks such as Data Mesh and data product operational models.
• Experience in the banking and financial services industry is highly desirable.

Educational Requirements

MBA, B.Tech, or any graduate degree is acceptable.
