Job description
Role Overview
The Senior Cost Planner and Benchmarking Manager will spearhead the cost planning and benchmarking operations for construction and infrastructure initiatives. This role is essential in delivering precise, data-based evaluations of project costs, standardizing cost frameworks, and enhancing cost effectiveness across all projects. Key responsibilities include supporting Procurement and Project Development divisions with critical commercial insights to guide decision-making during each project phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and benchmarking of costs throughout construction projects.
- Guarantee the accuracy and reliability of project cost evaluations grounded in evidence.
- Develop and maintain strong cost standards to ensure consistency.
- Promote cost-saving opportunities for the entire portfolio of projects.
- Provide valuable commercial data to Procurement and Project Development teams.
- Design and oversee detailed cost estimation procedures covering all projects.
- Create comprehensive elemental cost plans including labor, materials, equipment, and overheads aligning with project requirements and budget approvals.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, architects, quantity surveyors, and engineers to obtain necessary project scope details.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from a recognized university; a Master's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or analogous qualification is a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in cost estimation, cost planning, and benchmarking within the construction sector, emphasizing large scale mixed-use, hospitality, or infrastructure developments.
- Proven success in producing precise elemental cost plans aligned with multiple RIBA stages.
- Experience in the UAE or GCC region is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with BIM-integrated costing tools and e-procurement or ERP platforms is desirable.
