About the Role

Privatal is assisting a financial services company in recruiting a Senior Financial Controller responsible for overseeing budgeting, financial performance, and management reporting. This role requires proactive collaboration with senior stakeholders to challenge business assumptions and translate financial analyses into actionable business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the budgeting and forecasting processes for revenue and operational expenses.
• Perform variance analysis comparing actual performance to plans, provide explanations, and recommend corrective measures.
• Integrate profit and loss, balance sheet, and capital planning aspects to deliver a comprehensive performance overview.
• Collaborate with budget owners to scrutinize expenditures, enhance accountability, and strengthen financial controls.
• Develop clear management reports and effectively present insights to senior leadership.
• Enhance financial planning procedures, improve reporting accuracy, and reinforce internal controls.

Candidate Background

• Proven experience in financial controlling, budgeting, or financial planning & analysis within banking, insurance, or equivalent financial services sectors.
• Deep understanding of revenue and cost dynamics, along with the interrelation between the profit and loss statement and balance sheet.
• Practical knowledge of capital planning within regulated industries.
• Ability to work independently and confidently engage with senior leadership in a constructive manner.
• Strong analytical capabilities combined with effective communication skills and a hands-on work ethic.
• German language proficiency is advantageous but not a requirement.
