Senior Construction Lawyer

About the Role

A well-known and established law firm based in Doha, Qatar is seeking a Senior Construction Lawyer with over 8 years of post-qualification experience. This position involves advising on a wide range of sophisticated construction-related legal matters encompassing both transactional and dispute resolution work.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate contracts related to construction and engineering projects.
• Provide legal counsel on significant construction and infrastructure developments.
• Manage construction disputes through litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
• Advise clients concerning contractual claims, including issues around time extensions, delays, disruptions, defects, and payment disputes.
• Oversee complex disputes from initial claim through to final settlement.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, developers, consultants, and other project participants to align legal strategies.
• Contribute to business development and help expand the firm’s construction law practice.

Candidate Profile

• At least 8 years of post-qualification experience as a lawyer specializing in construction law.
• Proven expertise in both contentious and non-contentious construction law matters.
• Experience in handling litigation and arbitration related to construction disputes.
• Strong skills in commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
• Experience advising on complex construction projects and disputes.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a legal team.
• Previous experience in the GCC or Middle East legal markets is beneficial; strong international candidates will also be considered.
