Job description
About Scape
Scape is a Swedish game studio of about 30 people working fully remotely. We are preparing to launch "Scape" on Steam Early Access later this year—a multiplayer platform where players’ identities carry over through various games, starting with Gravity: a precision climbing game featuring up to 100 players on a shared server and tower.
Role Overview
We seek a Senior Community Manager to build and manage our community across the Asia Pacific region, with a focus on China. This role is pivotal in growing engagement around Gravity, leveraging APAC’s vibrant clipper and streamer culture. Reporting to the Lead Community Manager, you will help establish our presence in the region from launch and scale the community from its first thousand members.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the community’s structure, tone, and daily engagement throughout APAC.
- Manage official Chinese social channels such as Bilibili, Douyin, WeChat, and QQ as they are launched.
- Handle discussions, comments, and player reviews in Simplified Chinese and other regional languages on Steam.
- Engage daily with content creators and clippers alongside the commercial team to nurture relationships.
- Organize creator events and play sessions timed for prime engagement to fill 100-player servers.
- Host live AMAs, developer Q&As, and other interactive events in both Chinese and English.
- Build and coordinate a volunteer moderator program from the most dedicated players in the region.
- Monitor community spaces continuously, identifying and escalating potential issues promptly.
Requirements
- Reside in mainland China and possess deep familiarity with Chinese platforms including Bilibili, Douyin, WeChat, QQ, and the Chinese player community on Steam.
- Understand platform policies governing foreign companies, including onboarding, real-name verification, and content moderation rules.
- Fluent in spoken Mandarin and written Simplified Chinese; proficiency in Traditional Chinese is a plus. Strong English communication skills are also required, as it is the company’s internal language.
- Knowledgeable about the broader APAC community landscape and platform usage trends beyond China.
- Experience managing community growth or launch for a live game, with the ability to clearly articulate those achievements.
- Familiarity with creator culture encompassing streamers, clippers, and short-form video platforms.
- Comfortable on camera and skilled in live hosting sessions involving team members and players.
- Efficient and effective bilingual writing skills.
- Capable of remaining calm during crises such as late-night issues arising on launch weekends and discerning urgent problems from minor sparks.
- Ability to work standard hours aligned with China time zones, including availability during evenings for events or launches.
- A passion for gaming and familiarity with various game genres and trends.
What We Offer
- An ambitious game launch backed by tools and a marketing framework designed to encourage shareable player moments.
- A creator program that offers real revenue-sharing opportunities.
- A long-term contract without a fixed end date.
- The unique opportunity to own and grow a community in the world’s largest Steam market from its early stages.
