Senior Cloud Consultant

Role Overview

The Cloud Platform Engineer is tasked with implementing, securing, testing, and maintaining cloud environments including Google Cloud, Azure, and Oracle Cloud. This role involves collaboration with architectural teams during requirements and design stages, as well as providing level 3 support across Cloud, Windows, and Linux systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer access controls across Azure, Oracle, and Google cloud platforms.
• Ensure cloud solutions' security, scalability, reliability, and performance across multi-cloud infrastructures.
• Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code templates utilizing ARM templates or Terraform.
• Implement and uphold cloud resource controls, security measures, and monitoring systems for optimal uptime and performance.
• Build and deploy technical solutions following established best practices, including vendor oversight when necessary.
• Automate workflows to meet business needs and reduce manual repetition.
• Monitor and troubleshoot multi-cloud environments to resolve operational and performance issues.
• Implement comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies for cloud applications.
• Collaborate with DevOps and automation teams to optimize cloud infrastructure deployment and management.
• Stay informed on latest cloud developments and propose enhancements to security and system efficiency.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure streamlined integration and operation of cloud services.
• Provide advanced technical support (Level 3) for Cloud, Windows, and Linux workloads backed by analytical problem solving.
• Assist in evaluating and selecting suitable IT solutions based on requirements.
• Apply performance and diagnostic tools for testing and validating infrastructure changes.
• Maintain both internal and client-facing documentation to a high standard.
• Develop and manage technical standards and methodological documentation archives.
• Address and remediate issues identified by cloud platform security consoles.
• Implement governance through Azure Policy, Google Organization Policies, and policy-as-code frameworks.
• Manage Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Google Security Command Center, and other related security services.
• Configure key management, encryption, certificate and secrets management services within cloud environments.
• Maintain monitoring dashboards and alerting systems using Grafana and Prometheus; manage log pipelines through Sentinel and App Insights integration.
• Handle API management, databases, and integration platforms' routine operations including day-to-day tasks.
• Implement AI and cloud resources in line with well-architected cloud framework recommendations.
• Provision and administer Kubernetes clusters including Azure AKS, Google GKE, Oracle OKE, as well as Red Hat OpenShift environments.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Certifications such as CKA/CKAD, Azure/GCP/OCI associate or professional, and ITIL foundation are preferred.

Experience and Skills

• A minimum of 12 years in IT with at least 7 years dedicated to cloud environments.
• Extensive experience as a cloud platform engineer managing Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle IaaS and PaaS, with a focus on Kubernetes.
• Background supporting large-scale cloud platform operations and senior-level technical support roles.
• Strong communication and influencing skills with an ability to present ideas clearly.
• Expertise in Microsoft infrastructure best practices, plus solid understanding of VPN, DNS, load balancers, and firewall networking concepts.
• Proficient with Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift administration.
• Skilled in scripting with PowerShell and leveraging automation in cloud settings.
• Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools such as ARM templates and Terraform.
• Background in IT infrastructure deployment, troubleshooting, and design implementation.
• Experience leading transformation projects and transitions to support teams.
• Knowledge of Azure Virtual Desktop implementations and management is advantageous.
