The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst role at American Hospital Dubai demands deep expertise in Power BI (or similar tools), advanced SQL and Python capabilities, and statistical analysis experience. The ideal candidate will independently convert complex health data into strategic insights, mentor junior analysts, and collaborate with clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders to facilitate data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain complex dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Qlik, focusing on clinical, financial, quality, and population health domains.
• Develop and optimize intricate SQL queries involving large healthcare-related datasets such as EHR/EMR, claims, clinical, and operational data.
• Analyze healthcare metrics including patient outcomes, readmission rates, length of hospital stay, cost-of-care, and quality indicators like HEDIS and CMS Star Ratings.
• Ensure all data analyses and reporting comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and HITECH and follow best practices in data governance.
• Collaborate with leaders across clinical, operations, finance, and executive areas to define relevant KPIs, assess data requirements, and provide actionable insights.
• Utilize Python libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn) for advanced data preparation, automation, and statistical or predictive modeling.
• Apply sophisticated statistical techniques including hypothesis testing, regression, survival analysis, risk adjustment models, and cohort analysis to evaluate clinical and operational performance.
• Lead root-cause investigations into data quality concerns, workflow inefficiencies, and gaps in clinical or operational processes.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and mid-level analysts related to SQL, Python, and dashboard development.
• Drive automation efforts for repetitive reporting tasks and enhance efficiency in data pipelines.
• Work alongside data engineering teams on data architecture, ETL processes, and data warehouse design when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, health informatics, computer science, or a related discipline.
• Advanced user of Power BI or comparable BI and visualization solutions, with strong proficiency in DAX and data modeling.
• Expert knowledge of SQL, including writing complex joins, window functions, CTEs, query optimization, and stored procedures.
• Proficient in Python for data analysis and statistical modeling, experienced with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, and scikit-learn.
• Strong grasp of advanced statistical methodologies including regression analysis, hypothesis testing, A/B testing, and predictive modeling.
• Familiarity with healthcare-specific data standards and terminologies like ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and HL7/FHIR is highly beneficial.
• Understanding of healthcare data privacy regulations including HIPAA and compliance standards.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead projects and effectively manage relationships with stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and storytelling abilities to translate complex technical and clinical data into clear insights for non-technical audiences.

Professional Background

• More than five years as a Data Analyst with substantive exposure to healthcare sectors such as payers, providers, health systems, or health technology.
• Experienced with claims data, electronic health record systems (such as Epic or Cerner), or clinical data warehousing.
• Knowledge of value-based care, population health management, and quality reporting programs including HEDIS, MIPS, Star Ratings.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP and modern data warehousing environments such as Fabric Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
• Exposure to applying machine learning techniques within healthcare for tasks like risk prediction or readmission modeling.
• Familiarity with version control tools like Git and working within Agile or Scrum frameworks.
• Previous experience in mentoring or leading small analytics teams.
