Role Overview

The Senior BI Engineer will be responsible for migrating existing SAS-based reporting and data-processing workflows to modern Google Dataform and SQL pipelines. This position requires analyzing existing SAS logic, comprehending business requirements, designing equivalent Dataform solutions, and validating migrated reports with business and IT stakeholders.

Work Location and Hours

Work from Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, or Bangalore with a hybrid work model. Work shifts are from 1 PM IST to 10 PM IST.

Experience and Skill Requirements

• 7 to 12 years overall experience in BI or data engineering.
• 3 to 5 years hands-on experience with SAS and advanced SQL programming.
• 2 to 3 years experience with Google Cloud Platform, particularly Dataform and BigQuery.
• Strong capabilities in analyzing SAS programs, data transformations, and scheduling dependencies.
• Proficiency in migrating SAS workflows to Dataform and SQL-based pipelines, including coding, query optimization, and validation.
• Experience in developing scalable data transformation and preparation workflows.
• Competence in implementing workflow orchestration, data quality checks, and validation rules.
• Adept at coordinating with business stakeholders, facilitating requirements analysis, and handling user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Knowledge or experience with AI-assisted code conversion tools like Claude for code transformation and defect remediation is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine SAS programs, reporting logic, and transform them into Google Dataform and SQL equivalents.
• Develop and optimize complex SQL queries and data pipelines for scalable and efficient data processing.
• Conduct thorough validation of migrated report outputs to confirm accuracy against legacy SAS reports.
• Identify discrepancies and gaps between SAS and Dataform functionality and resolve them effectively.
• Support workshops for requirements gathering and clarification.
• Manage defect resolution related to migration and document the outcomes of the conversion process.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders throughout UAT and gain necessary sign-offs.
