Senior Backend Engineer (AI Products)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to independently architect and enhance the backend infrastructure of our AI products. This position demands not only strong coding abilities but also product-oriented thinking and comprehensive oversight of both frontend and backend teams, ensuring the successful launch of high-quality software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall backend architecture design and implementation, focusing on high-concurrency and complex system challenges while ensuring scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to boost coding efficiency and maintain code excellence, keeping abreast of modern AI engineering practices.
• Continuously identify and resolve performance bottlenecks related to inference speed, resource usage, and response times for AI applications.
• Apply product design principles to technical decisions, balancing business needs with practical implementation rather than just following specifications.
• Manage intricate details of product development, ensuring product quality and successful delivery.
• Coordinate frontend and backend teams regarding timelines and API integration, steer integration testing and quality assurance to meet deadlines with high quality standards.
• Engage in technical design reviews and strategic planning to advance product and technological progress.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of backend development experience, including independently designing and delivering complex products from the ground up.
• Strong expertise in system design, especially for high-concurrency and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in AI-assisted coding tools with documented results improving engineering output.
• Experience optimizing AI product performance with insight into key influencing factors and practical mitigation strategies.
• Keen product design insight, capable of assessing requirements and technical options with a user-centric approach.
• Demonstrated project ownership, managing complex project details and accountable for outcomes.
• Excellent cross-team collaboration and communication skills to align frontend/backend development and testing efforts.
• Fluency in Chinese is mandatory.
• Highly motivated with a strong sense of ownership, able to maintain quality independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience leading teams or launching products from concept to release.
• Background in AI or large language model-based applications.
• Experience developing products for creator or freelancer marketplaces.
