About the Role
Jacobs is dedicated to innovating solutions that shape the future for thriving cities, resilient environments, and critical scientific and manufacturing advancements. As part of our Energy and Power division, we are seeking a Senior Associate Transmission Lines Engineer to join our lines team based primarily in New Zealand with opportunities to engage across the Asia Pacific region. This role involves participation in vital transmission and renewable energy projects that support both existing infrastructure upgrades and new energy transition initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and upgrade of transmission line infrastructure.
- Execution of clearance remediation projects to ensure safe network operation.
- Structural assessments and enhancement of transmission towers.
- Design foundations and manage foundation remediation tasks.
- Contribute to renewable energy and transmission network projects.
- Provide Owner's Engineer services and advisory roles on various projects.
Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical experts, earthing and bonding professionals, and project managers to deliver technically sound and practical solutions. Opportunities may arise for interstate and international travel associated with project collaboration.
Additional Contributions
- Guide and mentor graduate and early-career engineers, fostering professional growth.
- Provide technical leadership on transmission line assignments.
- Strengthen client relationships and contribute to business development with new opportunities.
- Support the growth of Jacobs’ transmission capabilities across New Zealand, Australia, and Asia.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience in transmission line project delivery within consultancy, utility, or contractor settings.
- Strong technical expertise in transmission line structures, foundations, and related infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of New Zealand’s transmission sector, including its key stakeholders and project environments.
- Proven leadership abilities in technical delivery, work review, and mentorship.
- Effective stakeholder management and communication skills, with a focus on building trusted client relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
- A collaborative leadership approach to working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Established connections within the New Zealand transmission sector are advantageous.
