Job Overview
The primary responsibility of this role is to perform X-ray screening of hold baggage following guidelines from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. The goal is to identify and prevent Dangerous Goods, Prohibited, or Restricted Items from being transported through registered baggage, ensuring aviation security integrity.
Organizational Reporting
This position functions under the supervision hierarchy with a Shift Incharge at the top, followed by a Deputy Shift Incharge, then by the Screener role occupied by the candidate.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute Combined Test Piece (CTP), Operational Test Case (OTC), and Image Quality (IQ) assessments on multiple X-ray systems including the X-ray Baggage Inspection System (XBIS), Explosive Detection Tomography System (EDtS), and Computed Tomography X-ray machines, ensuring equipment standards are met.
- Perform screening of hold baggage at various security levels such as Level 2, Level 3, SOOG, OOG, VIP/GA Fallback locations 15 and 16, and other designated points.
- Conduct Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) tests and physical examinations of hold baggage as required.
- Strictly adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding inline hold baggage screening and maintain compliance during audits.
- Accurately document and manage all mandatory records and logs, both physically and electronically, ensuring availability and correctness.
Interactions
This role involves coordination with various external bodies such as the CISF, domestic and international airlines, and customs officials. Internal collaboration includes coordinating with DIAL’s Baggage Handling System (BHS), Terminal Operations, and Plants & Equipment departments.
Qualification and Experience
- Must possess a graduate degree in any field.
- Preferably qualified in Basic Aviation Security (AVSEC) and Dangerous Goods (DG) Awareness courses, ideally with screener certification.
- Should have 1 to 3 years of experience in the Aviation Security field, excluding candidates recruited from GMRVF who have completed post-basic security training.
