Job description
Role Overview
As Senior Architect, you will support the Resident Engineer by overseeing and coordinating the architectural technical documentation throughout all project phases, ensuring projects are delivered within deadline, budget, and quality requirements, fulfilling client expectations. You will lead a team of Junior Architects and Inspectors to supervise construction activities and devise effective architectural solutions for on-site technical challenges, while maintaining the original design intent.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and approve meeting minutes prepared by the Contract Administrator related to your comments.
- Assist in addressing contractor-raised concerns such as time extension requests and change orders; provide recommendations to the Resident Engineer accordingly.
- Participate in various meetings, including progress, coordination, and client meetings, as needed.
- Conduct off-site inspections including international reviews of materials, mock-ups, tests in line with contract requirements.
- Ensure supervision duties align with the PACE Supervision Manual; monitor site architects' compliance with supervision standards.
- Help manage health and safety protocols on-site and report any violations to relevant authorities.
- Coordinate contract documents with other architects and engineers before construction begins.
- Verify proper storage and protection of materials delivered according to manufacturers’ guidelines.
- Report any non-compliance with construction schedules promptly to avoid project delays.
- Oversee the timely submission of required documentation to local authorities as stipulated in contract terms.
- Maintain quality control on-site through rigorous material testing, verification, warranty management, and safeguarding installed systems.
- Inspect construction materials received on-site to ensure adherence to ministerial standards and contract specifications.
- Lead resolution of design and technical coordination among finishes, structural, electro-mechanical, landscape disciplines.
- Manage snagging procedures post substantial completion, creating snag lists for contractor rectifications and re-inspections.
- Advise Resident Engineer on subcontractor selection and approvals after consulting with client representatives.
- Alert Resident Engineer to discrepancies against contract documents for corrective measures.
- Contribute to progress report preparation and cost verification to support monthly payment certifications.
- Assess qualifications of contractors and subcontractors and inspect their facilities as required.
- Thoroughly review all project contract documents including drawings, specifications, and composite coordinated service shop drawings.
- Evaluate as-built drawings submitted by contractors prior to local authority approvals and for final records.
- Review construction materials, technical data, and samples against ministerial and technical specs.
- Validate contractors’ construction schedules and coordination with Planning Engineer before Resident Engineer’s approval.
- Inspect mock-ups and ongoing work vs contract documents and provide feedback to Resident Engineer.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 15 years in a similar architect role.
- Strong knowledge of local and national ministerial regulations, standards, and performance benchmarks.
- Proficient with CADD and major CAD applications, familiar with supervision manuals.
- Well-versed in contract documents, architectural and supervision agreements, with basic understanding of contract administration.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
- Advanced certification in BIM Revit.
- Membership in local engineering society relevant to region (e.g., Saudi Society of Mechanical Engineers).
