Role Overview
Join Amazon.com's Product Detail Page team as a Senior Applied Scientist and contribute to designing and developing a highly scalable multi-tiered shopping platform to deliver an unparalleled online shopping experience globally. The team consists of skilled applied scientists, developers, testers, program and product managers focused on creating the world’s best purchasing experience.
Key Responsibilities
You will develop next-generation technologies impacting how millions of customers interact and shop, leveraging diverse areas of computer science such as distributed systems, machine learning, natural language processing, data compression, and user interface design. Collaborate across Amazon businesses to identify major opportunities, propose innovative features, and engineer technical solutions enhancing customer experience on the Detail Page, Search Page, and other site components. You will be accountable for the quality of algorithm design and regularly present your findings and results to Amazon executives. Additionally, you will work with senior scientists to define and uphold company-wide standards for optimization, statistical modeling, simulation, and data analytics.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (PhD or Master's) with a strong focus on applying machine learning models for business use, supported by at least 6 years of practical experience.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or equivalents.
- Solid expertise in neural deep learning techniques and general machine learning methodologies.
- Demonstrated impact through patents or publications in highly esteemed conferences or journals.
- Competence in areas including algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high-performance computing.
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience with large-scale distributed computing frameworks like Hadoop or Spark.
- Research experience within corporate environments.
