About Hanwha Ocean EPU

Hanwha Ocean EPU is dedicated to pioneering sustainable energy through innovative work on diverse offshore, onshore, and infrastructure projects that impact industries globally. As a growing provider of full engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and offshore (EPCI(O)) solutions, the company’s portfolio includes FPSO, FLNG, floating production units, renewables, onshore power generation, and future-focused infrastructure endeavors. Their global teams collaborate to tackle complex engineering challenges and deliver advanced solutions.

Position Overview

The Senior Application Engineer specializing in AVEVA Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) will serve as the technical authority for the AVEVA Electrical and AVEVA Instrumentation environments. Responsibilities include application setup, engineering database management, discipline data modeling, integration support, automation, issue resolution, and production assistance across EPC, offshore, marine, and FPSO projects. This role reports directly to the EIS Group Lead and works closely with EIS Application Engineers and discipline leads on both corporate and project levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, clone, and administer AVEVA Electrical and Instrumentation project environments including databases, reference configurations, seed data, and controlled deployment packages.
  • Establish discipline object models, tagging frameworks, numbering and naming conventions, revision rules, attribute dictionaries, validation criteria, and lifecycle states for engineering data.
  • Develop and manage class libraries, drawing templates, reports, macros, smart symbols, catalogs, cable types, termination rules, hook-up libraries, title blocks, borders, and project drafting standards.
  • Manage user roles, permissions, licenses, and controlled project access for diverse stakeholders including internal teams, contractors, joint venture partners, suppliers, and clients.
  • Maintain configuration registers, environment baselines, change logs, backup/restore protocols, deployment notes, and handover documentation per project.
  • Build and oversee the E&I data model covering equipment, cables, cores, terminations, junction boxes, panels, instruments, signals, I/O channels, loops, electrical loads, circuits, MCCs, distribution boards, switchgear, and deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards and compliance with CFIHOS/JIP36, ISO 15926, and internal engineering data governance frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain smart symbols, user-defined attributes, validated tag libraries, cable and instrumentation data structures, and controlled reference data for project outputs.
  • Define and enforce rules for cable routing data, termination matrices, loop package extraction, signal continuity verification, device-to-loop and equipment-to-circuit relationships, and cross-disciplinary tag correlation.
  • Standardize status codes, engineering change workflows, revision tracking, and control practices.
  • Support integration of E&I attributes with client information requirements, CFIHOS-aligned tagging, LCI/DFO data books, asset registers, and digital project handovers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, instrumentation, control systems, or a related engineering field.
  • At least 5 to 8 years of relevant experience with AVEVA Electrical, Instrumentation, Engineering, or Unified Engineering in EPC, offshore, oil & gas, marine, or FPSO sectors.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of electrical and instrumentation engineering processes including cable engineering, termination design, loop and instrument index management, I/O channel allocation, load lists, single line and wiring diagrams, hook-up deliverables, MTO generation, and interface control systems.
  • Proven hands-on expertise in project setup, database and object model configuration, report customization, scripting using PML, SQL, .NET tools, API utilization, import/export routines, and engineering data validation workflows.
  • Experience with large-scale, multi-location projects and ability to troubleshoot configuration and production issues.
  • Familiar with AVEVA Unified Engineering, E3D, P&ID integration, and ensuring consistency between 1D/2D engineering data.
  • Knowledge of digital twin initiatives, LCI data preparation, procurement and construction deliverable workflows.
  • Capability to communicate with software vendors regarding product issues, enhancements, patches, upgrades, and project delivery impact.
