Job description
About the Company
Our client operates in clean technology, specializing in producing sustainable battery-grade graphite called biographite. This innovative material is derived from renewable forestry by-products through a patented low-temperature method that transforms biomass into a compatible anode material for lithium-ion batteries. The process aims to mitigate risks in global graphite supply chains and facilitates cost-effective, lower-emission battery manufacturing.
Role Overview
We are inviting applications for a Senior Anode Engineer based in Blenheim, New Zealand. This role involves leading daily operations of anode development programs, reporting directly to the Head of Product Development. You will be responsible for planning experiments, conducting design of experiments (DOE), testing, qualification, and providing technical advice on graphite-based anode materials within battery technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the entire anode development lifecycle from experimental design to delivery.
- Develop and implement DOEs, interpret experimental data, identify issues, and recommend solutions.
- Compile technical documentation including reports, presentations, and progress reviews.
- Assist with qualification processes and engage in technical discussions with internal teams and external collaborators.
- Organize and oversee experimental activities, managing technicians, junior engineers, suppliers, and testing services.
- Recognize technical risks, assess resource requirements, and seek opportunities for continual improvement.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ extensive experience focused on graphite anode materials encompassing development, characterization, processing, and performance testing.
- Demonstrated expertise in structuring and executing DOE-driven experimental programs.
- Strong analytical aptitude, troubleshooting proficiency, and capability to manage projects independently.
- Excellent skills in communicating complex technical information through reports and presentations.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Experience with battery or carbon materials development, qualification processes, and pilot or manufacturing scale-up.
- Background in mentoring team members and working closely with external partners.
- A driven, execution-focused professional who is hands-on, analytical, organized, collaborative, and proactive.
