Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and fine-tune Android video player frameworks and SDKs designed for live streaming scenarios.
  • Customize ExoPlayer modules including adaptive bitrate (ABR) logic and player builders to elevate playback performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving buffering, latency, and rebuffering in live streaming environments.
  • Manage playback for dynamic streaming manifests such as MPD and M3U8, ensuring seamless adaptive bitrate functionality across diverse network conditions.
  • Integrate and upkeep advertising technologies like IMA, DAI, and SSAI in the player framework.
  • Leverage Quality of Experience (QoE) analytics tools to identify problems and enhance real-world playback stability.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to maintain superior playback reliability across various devices.
  • Contribute to establishing best practices and continuous improvement in streaming projects.

Prerequisites

  • Over 7 years of Android development experience with strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java programming languages.
  • Proven track record in creating and sustaining video players and live playback modules compatible with Android and Android TV platforms.
  • Hands-on expertise with ExoPlayer customization and performance optimization specifically tailored for live streaming.
  • Strong debugging skills focused on rebuffering, latency, and playback robustness.
  • Deep understanding of streaming protocols such as DASH and HLS, adaptive bitrate methodologies, and ad integration technologies like IMA, SSAI, and DAI.
  • Experience utilizing video analytics platforms or QoE measurements such as Conviva, Mux, or Hydrolix to improve playback quality.
  • Familiarity with Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines, and Kotlin Flows.
  • Excellent English communication capabilities, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to operate efficiently and independently within a remote and fast-moving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in broadcast or OTT streaming sectors.
  • Background in high-scale sports live streaming projects.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours that overlap by 5 to 6 hours with US Pacific Time Zone teams.

Additional Details

A daily availability overlap with US Pacific Time Zone (PST) of 5 to 6 hours is expected.
