Role Overview

We are seeking a commercially astute Senior Analyst specializing in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance oversight. This role will involve consolidating and managing key financial plans and offering trusted financial partnership to designated corporate portfolios.

The Senior Analyst will be responsible for preparing comprehensive business performance reports and delivering insightful analysis and commentary to aid decision-making by the Executive team, Board, and external stakeholders. Close collaboration with operational, commercial, and executive leaders is essential to translate complex financial data into actionable and understandable insights that enhance organizational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain forecasting and budgeting systems, ensuring data accuracy, master data upkeep, and integration with finance platforms.
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting calendar, ensuring timely and coordinated planning activities.
  • Support the development of top-down and bottom-up budgets and long-term financial forecasts, covering income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, and capital investments.
  • Create and update integrated financial models that evaluate the impact of operational expenses, capital investments, demand projections, and funding assumptions to promote sustainable financial health and strategic decisions.
  • Perform financial modeling, scenario analyses, and provide strategic insights that assist investment prioritization and promote long-term financial sustainability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in the end-to-end Plan-to-Perform processes within the organization.
  • Prepare and analyze consolidated business performance reports, offering insights and commentary to support evidence-based decisions by executives and the Board.
  • Oversee financial performance reporting to the ACT Government and other regulatory bodies.
  • Support senior leadership in assigned portfolios to interpret financial results, budget impacts, and commercial outcomes.
  • Communicate complex financial data clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Conduct detailed financial and commercial assessments to underpin business cases, investment decisions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Assess project and program proposals for financial feasibility, risk, benefit, and value-for-money outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Membership with CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ).
  • A minimum of five years' experience in group Financial Planning & Analysis or management accounting within a commercial setting.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting standards and extensive experience in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Proven track record in business performance reporting and preparing Board-level reports.
  • Proficiency using comprehensive financial information management systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
