Job description
Role Overview
Kāinga Ora seeks a Senior AI Engineer responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of AI-driven solutions, including their discovery, design, deployment, adoption, governance, maintenance, and enhancement. This permanent Auckland-based role offers five weeks of annual leave and insurance benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver AI solutions that drive innovation and transform business outcomes by identifying opportunities to utilize AI, Microsoft Copilot, automation, and intelligent workflows.
- Develop and maintain AI platforms using authorized enterprise technologies to ensure secure, scalable, and effective AI services.
- Continuously optimize AI solutions by monitoring adoption, analyzing benefits, and reporting performance across the organization.
- Ensure AI implementations meet governance, security, privacy, and compliance standards related to responsible AI practices.
- Engage with stakeholders to uplift AI capability and support adoption throughout the enterprise.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have strong AI engineering skills, business partnership abilities, and a commitment to delivering innovative and ethical technology solutions. Experience working within complex enterprise environments and the aptitude to translate emerging technologies into impactful business benefits are essential.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven track record in designing, developing, and implementing AI-enabled solutions in large enterprise settings.
- Hands-on expertise with platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, Power Platform AI capabilities, or similar frameworks.
- Experience creating and deploying AI assistants, conversational AI, intelligent agents, automation, and workflow solutions that yield measurable value.
- Skilled in integrating AI functionalities within existing enterprise platforms and business processes.
- Strong knowledge of generative AI concepts including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and modern AI architectures.
- Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity, privacy, compliance, information management, and responsible AI principles.
- Proven ability to collaborate with business leaders to identify AI opportunities and deliver tangible results.
