About the Role

This Senior Accountant position offers a salary range of $75,000 to $90,000 and is based in Etobicoke, Ontario. Join a well-established boutique CPA firm serving owner-managed businesses, professionals, and individuals from a diverse client base. The firm emphasizes accounting, tax, and advisory services instead of audit, presenting a unique chance to focus your career on private business accounting and taxation without assurance overload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile engagements and prepare year-end working papers
  • Draft financial statements and make year-end adjustments
  • Prepare individual (T1) and corporate (T2) tax returns
  • Develop skills working on trust (T3) tax returns
  • Handle investment, rental, and self-employment income scenarios
  • Create corporate tax schedules related to investment activity
  • Complete HST returns
  • Support T4/T5 filings and payroll-related documentation when necessary
  • Liaise with clients to gather information and resolve outstanding issues
  • Assist with Canadian Revenue Agency correspondence and compliance requirements
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of privately held businesses and professionals

Candidate Profile

  • Two to five years of experience in Canadian public accounting
  • Proficient in preparing T1 and T2 tax returns
  • Experience in compilation and year-end accounting processes
  • Exposure to T3 trust returns is advantageous
  • Capable of preparing HST returns
  • Payroll experience is a plus
  • Familiar with Canadian income tax regulations
  • Experienced with owner-managed or privately held companies
  • Knowledge of multiple industries is beneficial
  • Skilled in CaseWare software
  • Experienced using QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop
  • Familiarity with Canadian tax software such as Profile, TaxPrep, TaxCycle, Cantax, or equivalents
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
  • Effective at managing multiple deadlines especially during tax season
  • Comfortable maintaining direct communication with clients
  • CPA designated, in progress, or equivalent experience without designation all considered
