Self Checkout Attendant

Position Summary

Join Walmart Canada as a Self-Checkout Attendant and develop key expertise in customer service and retail operations. In this role, you will ensure customers have a smooth and positive self-checkout experience by offering friendly assistance during their transactions. Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the self-checkout area, ensuring it is clear of clutter, unnecessary items, foreign objects, and spills.
• Promote Walmart’s various programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable campaigns when applicable.
• Assist customers in using self-checkout systems efficiently, monitor the area for smooth operations, clarify any interventions courteously, and escalate cash or technical problems to the Customer Service Manager.
• Respond promptly to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms following proper procedures and accurately log incidents of failure to deactivate tags.
• Manage Scan & Go equipment by ensuring scanners are returned to their designated locations after use.
• Be flexible with scheduling, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays to support operational needs.

Work Challenges

• Handle high task volumes in a fast-paced environment, including managing overnight shifts while maintaining focus and energy.
• Complete large volumes of restocking and recovery tasks efficiently and on time.
• Meet physical demands such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting inventory or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Perform repetitive tasks like stocking and organizing products with consistent attention to detail to uphold store standards.

Compensation

The starting hourly pay rate for this position is $16.90.

Minimum Requirements

• Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
