Self Checkout Attendant

Position Overview

Joining Walmart Canada as a Self Checkout Attendant provides a valuable gateway to develop customer service and retail operational skills. Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized self checkout area free from clutter, debris, or safety hazards.
• Promote Walmart's programs such as credit card offers, product protection plans, and charitable causes when relevant.
• Assist shoppers to quickly and confidently use self checkout, offer help as needed, monitor transactions, and perform necessary verifications. Communicate any intervention clearly and escalate cash or tech concerns to management.
• Respond promptly to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alerts following company procedures and keep accurate records in the “Failure to Deactivate” log.
• Oversee Scan & Go equipment by ensuring scanners are properly stored after use.
• Be flexible with scheduling and open to working evenings, weekends, and holidays for smooth store operations.

Challenges Inherent to the Role

• Manage high workloads in a brisk setting, staying alert particularly during overnight shifts through effective planning.
• Handle vigorous physical activities including prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to 20 lbs regularly, sometimes up to 50 lbs.
• Perform repetitive tasks like product restocking and organization while maintaining high standards of accuracy and presentation.

Additional Information
