Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Head of IT Security, the Security Operations Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for supervising daily operations of internal security teams alongside managed service providers. This hands-on position requires maintaining operational excellence, fostering strong partner relationships, and steering the function’s growth in line with evolving business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct daily activities of internal security personnel and external managed service partners, ensuring smooth operation of security functions.
• Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with MSPs, identifying enhancements to improve service effectiveness and cost efficiency.
• Lead the growth and capability development of the security operations team across various regions in response to changing business demands.
• Oversee the management and upkeep of the security technologies to ensure optimal performance and suitability.
• Supervise the detection, assessment, response, and review of security incidents working closely with internal teams and MSPs to mitigate risks and derive improvements.
• Establish and monitor key operational metrics and service level agreements such as mean time to detect/respond and patching timelines, holding partners accountable and updating leadership on security posture.
• Collaborate with the Security Change & Delivery Manager to prioritize projects and oversee acceptance of new security services.
• Support compliance with frameworks including ISO 27001 and NIS2, ensuring controls remain audit-ready and effective.
• Contribute to the design and delivery of security awareness and training programs.
• Work alongside governance, risk, and compliance teams to prioritize efforts based on risk assessments.

Experience and Qualifications

• Between 5 to 10 years in senior roles within IT operations or security operations in dynamic environments.
• Demonstrated track record in constructing and standardizing operational processes and protocols.
• Hands-on experience managing software procurement and licensing agreements.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with departments such as IT, Finance, Procurement, and business stakeholders.
• Familiarity engaging with risk management teams to align operational priorities.
• Experience coordinating with project management offices to balance routine operations and change initiatives.
• Knowledge of security tools and certifications related to SIEM, Vulnerability Management, Network Detection and Response (NDR), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and SOAR automation is advantageous.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP or CISM are desirable.
