Security Officer

Overview

Hyatt Regency Nairobi seeks diligent, observant, and service-driven Security Officers to join its Security team. Within a high-end international hospitality setting, you will have a vital role in ensuring the safety of guests, colleagues, hotel premises, and assets. The role demands professionalism, discretion, and calmness both in everyday and emergency scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible, professional security presence throughout the hotel premises.
• Perform scheduled patrols across guest areas, back-of-house zones, perimeter, and other assigned locations.
• Oversee access points and enforce appropriate access controls.
• Operate CCTV surveillance and report any suspicious or concerning activities.
• Respond promptly and courteously to incidents, emergencies, and assistance requests.
• Assist with emergency procedures, including evacuations and security drills.
• Keep detailed security logs, incident reports, and occurrence books.
• Support investigations by preserving relevant evidence or information.
• Monitor movement of guests, staff, contractors, and visitors per hotel guidelines.
• Protect hotel property, equipment, and assets vigilantly.
• Assist crowd control, manage events, VIP movements, and situations with large occupancy.
• Apply hotel security policies consistently with courtesy and a focus on service.
• Collaborate with other departments to identify and mitigate security risks.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all guests, staff, and operational matters.
• Undertake other security-related duties as assigned by supervision.

Experience & Qualifications

• Certificate or Diploma in Security Management, Criminology, Police Studies, Risk Management, or related field from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of two to three years of relevant experience in security roles.
• Prior experience in hotel, luxury hospitality, corporate, commercial, or comparable demanding environments is preferred.
• Experience within international hotels or hospitality brands is advantageous.
• Previous employment with Hyatt is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of foundational security operations including access control, incident documentation, and emergency response protocols.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
