Role Overview

The Security Guard position at Lidl UK in Redditch is a full-time, on-site role focused on ensuring a safe and secure environment for customers, staff, and store property. Daily responsibilities include monitoring the store premises, observing activity among customers and employees, and responding swiftly to any security incidents or suspicious conduct. The Security Guard manages access to restricted areas, safeguards assets from theft or damage, and assists store management during emergency situations.

The role also involves maintaining a visible security presence, addressing safety-related queries from customers and colleagues, and cooperating with external security and emergency services as needed. Precise incident documentation, strict compliance with company security protocols, and a consistently professional demeanor are critical elements of the role.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to communicate effectively, defuse conflicts, and contribute to a positive customer atmosphere.
  • Expertise in physical security, including monitoring premises, controlling entry points, and asset protection.
  • Knowledge of personnel and private security practices to manage risks involving individuals and adhere to professional standards.
  • Experience in security roles such as Security Guard or Retail Security Officer is advantageous.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions, and follow procedures during emergencies.
  • Basic IT skills for using security systems, incident reporting software, and internal communication devices.
  • Familiarity with UK security laws and best practices, and possession of relevant certifications (e.g., SIA licence) is beneficial.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and willingness to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends.
