Role Overview
The Security Consultant position plays a vital role in identifying and mitigating cybersecurity risks for clients. Focused on protecting ICT and operational technology systems, consultants assess risks, recommend security enhancements, and support the implementation of security capabilities. This position requires holding at least an active PV clearance, with NV2 clearance with OSA also considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed risk assessments at technical and system-process levels against established security control frameworks.
- Produce comprehensive, high-quality security reports outlining vulnerabilities, governance improvements, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Accurately categorize threats, threat actors, and system vulnerabilities through assessments of ICT and OT environments.
- Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and plans to promote strong governance.
- Collaborate with global colleagues to enhance business value, share insights, and foster professional network growth.
- Understand customer business and information risk contexts, including cyber threats and security implementation challenges.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of technical and procedural controls, recommending proportionate security improvements as necessary.
- Research and analyze security technologies to support innovative security solutions.
- Engage directly with clients to aid effective cyber risk management.
- Support stakeholder workshops, interviews, and on-site investigations to gather information and assess controls.
Functional Expertise
- Measure control effectiveness and assess associated business impacts through documentation and structured questionnaires.
- Familiarity with key information security standards such as Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM) and ISO 27001.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks like the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
- Preferably possess or be progressing towards relevant certifications such as CRISC, CISM, or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor.
- Hold or be willing to obtain appropriate national security clearance.
