Job Overview
The Science Lab Assistant position involves upholding a secure, orderly, and hygienic laboratory setting, ensuring all instruments and materials are functional and properly maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep the laboratory environment safe, clean, and well-organized.
- Monitor laboratory tools, apparatus, and materials to confirm they are operational.
- Report any malfunctioning equipment and manage devices labeled as "Out of Order".
- Dispose of broken glassware and other materials following established safety guidelines.
- Carry out routine checks on Bunsen burners and other critical equipment.
- Maintain and update records of stock and breakage; coordinate restocking as necessary.
- Regularly inspect and replenish first aid supplies.
- Support Science teachers by preparing for lessons and resetting the lab after classes.
- Carry out additional tasks assigned by the Head of Science Department.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience working in a science laboratory environment, ideally in a primary school setting.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
- Basic digital literacy and computer skills.
- Competence in maintaining records, updating stock inventories, and communicating through email and mobile messaging.
