About the Role
House of Science NZ is growing its team to provide expert guidance to educators in primary and intermediate schools across New Zealand. The role of Science Advisor involves partnering with teachers to enhance their confidence and skills in delivering science education, utilizing hands-on kits and robust teacher support to make science and pūtaiao engaging and accessible for students.
Key Responsibilities
As a Science Advisor, you will mentor teachers, conduct educational workshops, assist schools in effectively using House of Science kits, and support the development of science curricula aligned with New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa.
Location and Salary
Positions are available in several locations including Rotorua, Whangārei, Auckland (Sylvia Park or Takanini), Hamilton, and Whanganui (half-time). Applicants must specify their preferred location in their application. The salary range is $77,000 to $104,000 annually with pro-rata salary adjustments for part-time roles.
Qualifications and Skills
Preferably, candidates have teaching experience. Fluency or capability in Te Reo Māori is considered an advantage.
