Capella State High School seeks a dedicated and hands-on Schools Officer to maintain the school grounds, facilities, and resources at a high standard. This role supports a safe, well-kept, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and the wider community. A smaller rural school positioned between Emerald and Clermont, Capella State High School serves agricultural and mining communities. The school emphasizes student engagement, wellbeing, and success, fostering teamwork, respect, and positive attitudes. Facilities include manicured gardens, well-maintained modern buildings equipped with Wi-Fi and Touchboards, and industry-standard specialist learning spaces such as a function centre and manufacturing workshops.
Role Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance on school grounds, buildings, furniture, equipment, and manage assets.
- Handle mail, deliveries, inventory control, stocktaking, and school supply management.
- Support school security operations including opening and closing buildings and managing security systems.
- Maintain grounds including gardens, ovals, and sporting facilities through mowing, watering, and upkeep.
- Coordinate and conduct repairs and upkeep for buildings, equipment, windows, locks, and swimming pools.
- Assist with event preparations and pack-ups for assemblies, exams, and sporting events.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, particularly in safe chemical and equipment handling and storage.
- Collaborate with staff, students, contractors, and tradespeople regarding maintenance and facility needs.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and machinery, organizing servicing and repairs as needed.
