Job description
About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned, proactive, and results-oriented School Principal to provide excellent academic, administrative, and strategic oversight at a respected school based in Imo State, Nigeria. The candidate must have proven expertise working within a British Curriculum framework and the capacity to direct both teaching and non-teaching personnel, ensuring high standards in academics, student well-being, discipline, and overall school management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership in teaching and learning, ensuring the British Curriculum is effectively delivered and continuously enhanced.
- Monitor and evaluate lesson implementation, student assessments, academic performance, and targeted outcomes.
- Set academic benchmarks and develop strategies aimed at boosting student achievement.
- Encourage and implement innovative teaching methodologies and learning approaches.
- Ensure students are aptly prepared for internal and external examinations relevant to the British Curriculum.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor teaching and support staff, managing performance and fostering professional growth through training and reviews.
- Organize staff meetings, coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and cultivate a cooperative and high-achieving school culture.
- Manage daily academic and administrative functions, ensuring policies and procedures are rigorously applied.
- Maintain attendance records, student data, assessments, and report generation with accuracy.
- Collaborate on budgeting, resource management, facility maintenance, and school enhancement initiatives.
- Guarantee adherence to applicable educational laws and standards.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment focusing on student welfare, discipline, and safeguarding practices.
- Handle behaviour management and uphold child protection policies effectively.
- Engage with parents, guardians, and stakeholders, resolving concerns professionally and representing the school at various forums.
- Support the school's admission processes, retention efforts, reputation-building, and expansion goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Management, or related disciplines required.
- Master’s degree or professional educational qualifications are advantageous.
- At least 8 to 10 years of experience in education, with a minimum of 4 to 5 years in senior leadership roles.
- Demonstrable background in managing schools following the British Curriculum.
- Thorough understanding of British Curriculum standards, student assessments, and pedagogical methods.
- Experience in school administration, staff oversight, student welfare, and safeguarding principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong character traits including integrity, professionalism, emotional intelligence, and confidentiality.
- Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or equivalent leadership certification is a plus.

Additional Information
Employment is full-time and based onsite in Imo State, Nigeria. The anticipated monthly salary range is ₦350,000 to ₦400,000.
