Job description
Overview
This role focuses on ensuring the stability and availability of SAP landscapes by monitoring, maintaining, and supporting SAP systems and related activities. The specialist will manage daily health checks, user administration, system upgrades, and coordinate with various teams for incident handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor SAP environments to ensure system availability.
- Conduct routine health checks on SAP application servers and underlying databases.
- Oversee processing of background jobs, review system logs, error dumps, and spool requests to preempt issues.
- Manage user administration including creation, deletion, password resets, and role assignment coordination.
- Track transport requests and assist in their proper migration across environments.
- Keep track of SAP system memory usage and connections between on-premises systems and cloud services.
- Perform kernel and component upgrades such as ST-PI, ST-A/PI, CIM, CR, SPAM, and SAINT.
- Identify and escalate system performance concerns, alerts, and failures to higher support levels promptly.
- Support startup and shutdown procedures of SAP systems as required.
- Maintain thorough documentation regarding incidents, troubleshooting steps, and operational guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with infrastructure, database, and application teams during incident resolution.
- Assist in routine maintenance and oversee scheduled job executions.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Fundamental understanding of SAP BASIS framework and architectural components.
- Experience or familiarity with SAP modules such as ECC, S/4HANA, BW, or Solution Manager.
- Proficient in SAP tools including SAP GUI, Microsoft Management Console (MMC), HANA Studio, and Cloud Connector.
- Knowledge of SSL certificate management within SAP environments.
- Hands-on experience with key SAP transactions like ST22, SM21, SM37, SM50/SM66, and SU01.
- Understanding of the transport management system (TMS) workflows.
- Basic skills in Linux or Windows system administration.
- Foundational knowledge of HANA database administration.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities for troubleshooting SAP issues.
