Job description
About Halter
Halter is dedicated to empowering farmers and grazers to operate highly productive and sustainable agricultural enterprises. Our innovative solutions enable farmers to manage large cattle herds without traditional constraints such as fences or quad bikes, allowing animals to move calmly at their own pace. This groundbreaking approach is revolutionizing grazing practices and transforming the agricultural industry. Halter's team thrives on tackling challenging problems within a culture that fosters high performance, driven by a commitment to meaningful impact and real-world change.
Supported by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck, and Icehouse Ventures, we continue to expand and innovate.
Role Overview
The Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) Lead is essential to balancing production capabilities and sales commitments as Halter expands its hardware product lines and enters new markets internationally. This inaugural S&OP position involves designing and establishing the entire planning process—from cycle cadence and tooling to coordinating between commercial and operations teams to align on achievable, trusted planning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage the complete S&OP cycle at Halter, including demand and supply reviews and executive meetings.
- Lead monthly S&OP meetings, uniting stakeholders from sales, forecasting, supply planning, and operations to reach consensus on plans.
- Detect supply-demand imbalances early, evaluate their impact, and spearhead cross-functional discussions to resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory status and availability across various products and international markets.
- Account for varying regional considerations such as lead times, shipping methods, regulations, and demand when planning for global markets.
- Prepare materials and insights for executive-level S&OP discussions, highlighting critical trade-offs and recommendations.
- Ensure follow-through on agreed actions post-S&OP and maintain accountability across teams.
- Continuously refine and evolve the S&OP process as the company scales and product range expands.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting mechanisms for supply health and forecast accuracy to keep leadership well-informed on business status and risks.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven experience leading S&OP or integrated business planning processes within hardware manufacturing or a similar environment, specifically as the process owner.
- Expertise in building new or significantly enhancing existing S&OP frameworks rather than solely participating in established ones.
- Strong facilitation and meeting management skills capable of aligning stakeholders with varying priorities.
- Advanced analytical skills, comfortable handling complex data, constructing planning models, and validating assumptions.
- Fluency in commercial and operational conversations, bridging dialogue between sales leadership and supply planning teams.
- Actions-oriented with a proactive approach to resolving ambiguities and imbalances in planning.
- Emotional intelligence to engage in difficult discussions candidly and constructively, embracing open-mindedness and adaptability.
Employee Benefits
- Access to tasty snacks and beverages to support daily productivity.
- Partnership with Southern Cross Health Insurance to promote physical and mental well-being.
- Generous parental leave options including six months fully paid for primary caregivers and four weeks fully paid secondary caregiver leave, along with supportive family benefits.
- An annual personal development allowance of $1,000 for learning and growth activities.
- Unlimited paid leave and wellness leave policies to encourage work-life balance.
- A competitive compensation package inclusive of salary, comprehensive benefits, and participation in an employee stock ownership plan.
Work Culture
Our office-first approach fosters authentic connections, fueling growth, learning, and impactful teamwork. While the default is on-site working, flexibility is provided based on individual circumstances within a trust-based culture. Our high-energy environment and passionate people make the workplace rewarding and enjoyable.
Inclusion Statement
Halter is devoted to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can be their authentic selves and perform at their best. We encourage candidates who resonate with this role, even if all criteria are not perfectly met, to express interest and explore potential fit.
