About the Company
Our client is an internationally focused freight forwarding company based in Sydney, combining advanced technology with personalized client service that large corporations find hard to replicate. They manage sea freight, air freight, and customs for hundreds of Australian importers and exporters.
Role Overview
This role is a frontline position focused on generating new business opportunities. It involves identifying and qualifying importers and exporters, initiating conversations, and scheduling meetings for the Business Development team. You'll collaborate directly with the company's directors and sales staff, gaining freight knowledge from experienced founders. Ambitious candidates can advance from this Sales Development Representative (SDR) role to Business Development Manager (BDM).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research to compile targeted lists of importers and exporters.
- Perform outbound prospecting through phone calls, emails, and LinkedIn outreach.
- Qualify potential leads and arrange initial meetings for BDMs.
- Promptly follow up on inquiries and warm leads.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in the CRM system.
- Achieve weekly targets related to activity and meetings set.
- Provide market feedback to sales teams regarding which approaches work and which do not.
Candidate Profile
- 1 to 3 years of experience in outbound sales, SDR, BDR, or comparable target-driven roles.
- Confidence and comfort engaging business owners and decision-makers by phone.
- Resilience, including the ability to handle rejection professionally.
- Strong written communication skills for email and LinkedIn outreach.
- Demonstrated career stability and commitment valued by the company.
- Experience or knowledge of freight forwarding or logistics is advantageous but not essential; motivation and strong work ethic are prioritized.
- Desire to develop and advance into a Business Development Manager position.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive base salary with performance-based incentives.
- Clear progression pathway into business development roles.
- Direct mentorship from company founders and seasoned sales professionals.
- Opportunity to contribute significantly in a growing company where efforts are recognized.
- Use of modern technology and systems with an agile team environment.
