Overview of Rotageek

Rotageek provides a workforce management platform tailored for retail, hospitality, and entertainment sectors. They specialize in optimizing employee scheduling across numerous locations, aiming to enhance business efficiency and employee fairness. The company serves renowned clients such as Screwfix, Nando's, Hotel Chocolat, Caffè Nero, and Pets at Home. Part of the larger ELMO group, Rotageek combines stability with a dynamic, close-knit company culture. Focused on being market leaders in scheduling, they seek inquisitive and enthusiastic individuals eager to learn about business, sales, and AI to join their next-generation sales team.

Role Importance and Approach

The Sales Development Representative (SDR) will play a crucial role identifying organizations that would benefit from data-driven staff scheduling and initiating meaningful conversations with key decision-makers, such as COOs, operations directors, finance leaders, and heads of data. This role is more strategic than typical SDR positions: it involves thorough research using AI tools and other resources to tailor outreach and build strong business cases rather than generic cold calls.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed research on target accounts in collaboration with Sales and Marketing, understanding their business operations, workforce, current scheduling methods, and changes.
  • Utilize proprietary AI tools along with public data to identify potential scheduling inefficiencies or costs.
  • Draft clear hypotheses and personalized outreach messages before contacting prospects.
  • Engage senior decision-makers through multiple channels, including phone, video calls, email, and LinkedIn.
  • Confidently perform cold calls and follow-ups with senior professionals.
  • Develop sufficient technical knowledge about integrations, APIs, HR, and payroll systems to maintain conversations with technical stakeholders.
  • Leverage AI tools daily for research, writing, prioritization, and account planning; contribute to improving these tools.
  • Create and enhance outreach playbooks, workflows, and small tools to optimize team efficiency.
  • Qualify leads honestly and book discovery meetings for Account Executives when appropriate opportunities arise.
  • Manage leads from various sources accurately within Salesforce, maintaining detailed records.
  • Provide valuable market feedback on objections, competitors, and product gaps to internal teams.

Success Metrics for First Six Months

  • Develop a strong qualified pipeline through combined self-generated and supported opportunities.
  • Suggest at least one monthly improvement to sales tools or processes.
  • Maintain Salesforce data integrity for all contacts and meetings.
  • Document weekly market insights based on research and conversations.
  • Build trust with Account Executives by qualifying opportunities transparently.

Desired Competencies

  • Curiosity about business operations and financial outcomes in retail or hospitality.
  • Analytical thinking to research and hypothesize before outreach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills targeted at senior stakeholders.
  • Confidence and honesty in phone engagement with high-level professionals.
  • Practical daily use of AI tools for sales tasks.
  • Commercial awareness focused on meaningful pipeline creation, not just activity.
  • Technical curiosity about APIs, integrations, and HR/payroll technologies.
  • Collaborative spirit to work effectively with sales, partner management, and marketing teams.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle research, outreach, follow-up, and CRM management.
  • Adaptability and willingness to experiment and refine sales approaches.

Helpful Experience and Skills

  • B2B outbound sales experience involving detailed account research.
  • Familiarity with retail, hospitality, leisure, or entertainment sectors.
  • Knowledge of workforce management, HR technology, or payroll systems.
  • Technical aptitude to explain integrations and APIs clearly.
  • Basic scripting, no-code, or data manipulation skills such as Python, SQL, or advanced spreadsheet use.

Compensation and Perks

  • Base salary between £35,000 and £40,000 with additional on-target earnings (OTE).
  • Unlimited commission on accepted meetings and self-generated pipeline with a guaranteed ramp period for the first three months.
  • Defined career progression path, with potential promotion to Account Executive or other roles within 12-18 months upon demonstrating suitable performance.
  • Opportunity to work closely with and help shape proprietary AI tools used in sales processes.
  • Direct collaboration with the Chief Revenue Officer, Account Executives, and wider commercial teams.
  • Significant role responsibility and influence on modern sales methodologies integrating AI.
  • Two London-based positions offering a hybrid work schedule of two days onsite weekly, subject to final confirmation.
  • 25 days annual leave plus birthday off and a company-wide Christmas shutdown.
  • Employer pension contribution matching 5% of pay.
  • Access to personal development and wellness programs including More Happi and YuLife.

Recruitment Process & Eligibility

  • Initial 45-minute conversation focusing on candidate’s approach to business and AI experience.
  • Practical assignment to analyze a target account and prepare outreach materials within a 3-hour timeframe during a week.
  • Team interaction session to assess collaboration and communication style.
  • Hiring decisions are generally made within a week following the final stage.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Adjustments to recruitment process available on request.
