Job Overview

The Sales Associate provides friendly and efficient customer service by proactively engaging with customers to assess their needs and offer advice. With extensive knowledge of products, departments, and services, they inform customers about product features and related items to support full project sales. In their assigned area, Associates welcome all customers, establish rapport, and conclude interactions with thanks. They also provide basic service in nearby departments and focus strongly on understanding and fulfilling customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service by following the Home Depot ACT (Acknowledge, Connect, Thank) model.
• Seek out customers throughout the store and guide them to appropriate merchandise across any department or service.
• Ask open-ended questions about customers' projects to gauge expertise and needs.
• Promote offerings such as Special Services, Tool Rental, Pro Desk, and Pro Services, knowing how to recommend them effectively.
• Drive sales by discussing product options (good, better, best) and suggesting related items or services customers might need.
• Provide customers with information about their overall project to encourage comprehensive purchases.
• Utilize discretionary authority to resolve customer issues and ensure satisfaction when necessary.
• Maintain daily shelf upkeep, ensuring products are labeled, correctly displayed, and clean.

Skills and Knowledge Development

• Keep up-to-date with products in your assigned department and adjacent areas.
• Proactively learn about all products and services offered in the store.

Safety and Compliance

• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including loss prevention measures.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Flexible schedule with possible evening and weekend shifts.
• Warehouse environment may be dusty and noisy.
• Doors may be open frequently, causing drafts and temperature changes.
• Physical tasks include bending, stooping, stretching, twisting; lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One to two years of retail or trade experience preferred.
