Role Summary

The position of Sales Associate is a full-time, on-location opportunity at Shoppers Supermarket Limited in Dar es-Salaam. This role involves assisting customers on the sales floor by welcoming shoppers, responding to inquiries about products, and advising on current promotions and deals. Responsibilities include replenishing stock, arranging product displays, overseeing inventory levels, and maintaining clean and safe shopping aisles and counters. The associate also performs basic cashier tasks such as helping at checkout points, completing transactions as required, and resolving simple customer concerns. Collaboration with the store team is essential to achieve sales goals, keep pricing and signage accurate, and sustain an efficient, inviting store environment.

Qualifications and Skills

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities to interact courteously and professionally with a diverse range of shoppers.
• Fundamental knowledge of sales and retail activities, including merchandising, product arrangement, and supporting inventory management.
• Competence in handling cash and electronic payments with accuracy, along with good basic arithmetic skills.
• Effective communication skills in spoken and written English; knowledge of Swahili or other local languages is advantageous.
• Physical stamina to stand for long durations, lift light to moderate weights, and work in a fast-moving supermarket setting.
• Dependable and punctual, willing to work shifts including weekends and public holidays as needed.
• Previous retail, supermarket, or direct customer service experience is preferred but not essential.
• Completion of secondary school education or its equivalent; additional credentials in sales, retail, or customer support are a plus.
