Job description
Job Overview
The role requires managing a diverse caseload of patients with various health needs within a primary care environment. You will collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing clinical knowledge and experience to support colleagues. Your approach will be contemporary, patient-focused, prudent, and facilitate teamwork throughout daily activities.
Main Duties
The General Practitioner will perform the comprehensive duties customary to primary care practice. Tasks include conducting in-person, telephone, video, and electronic consultations, making home visits when suitable, providing clinical guidance to colleagues, and efficiently managing referrals, correspondence, test results, and administrative duties.
You will exercise professional and independent judgment in patient care decisions, involving assessment, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic conditions aligned with evidence-based guidelines. Additional responsibilities encompass identifying health risks, promoting wellness, supporting public health efforts, and appropriately referring or transferring patients to other services.
Maintaining accurate clinical documentation is essential, along with safe prescribing according to local and national protocols, and contributing to audits, quality improvements, and patient safety programs.
Any private fee-based work must be disclosed to the Practice Manager as per internal procedures. Participation in clinical and governance meetings, incident and complaint investigations, and multidisciplinary collaboration is expected. You must uphold professional registration, continue professional development, and comply with all Practice policies including confidentiality, safeguarding, equality, and NHS Wales standards.
