Overview
Element Materials Technology invites applications for the position of Safety Officer to join their expanding team located in Kaki Bukit, Singapore. This role involves conducting a broad range of safety-related tasks within assigned departments and reporting outcomes under direct supervision.
Responsibilities
- Support the HSE Manager in ensuring adherence to all safety, health, environmental, and welfare regulations to meet statutory requirements and aerodrome safety standards.
- Fulfill duties outlined under the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH Officer) Regulations and comply fully with the WSH Act and relevant Codes of Practices. This includes potentially taking on roles such as SGSecure Representative, Risk Management Champion, and Safe Management Officer among others.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and review Element’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Management System to maintain high performance and legal compliance.
- Set EHS policies, objectives, and targets, communicate these to staff to increase awareness, and regularly monitor outcomes.
- Identify EHS training requirements and deliver ongoing training programs to enhance staff safety awareness.
- Collaborate effectively across all organizational levels and multiple business units as well as with diverse stakeholders.
- Provide dedicated EHS support to all Singapore-based sites.
- Coordinate external audits and maintain documentation required for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications.
- Conduct internal audits and root cause analysis, recommending corrective actions to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the EHS Management System in line with relevant standards.
- Manage EHS documentation as the Document Controller to ensure the system is current.
- Investigate all EHS incidents thoroughly, compile and analyze data, prepare comprehensive reports, and implement preventive measures.
- Conduct EHS orientations for all new hires, contractors, temporary workers, and visitors as needed.
- Lead EHS programs affecting Element’s employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors to maintain a safe workplace.
- Supervise contractor safety compliance within Element’s premises and enforce safety protocols during their activities.
- Liaise with local regulatory bodies such as MOM, NEA, HSA, LTA, PUB, CAG, and SCDF on all EHS matters.
- Stay updated on local EHS legislation and WSH developments and effectively communicate relevant updates to enable continuous improvement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- A Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Safety, or related disciplines.
- Possession of safety certifications such as NEBOSH, WSH, or IOSH.
- Between 2 to 5 years of pertinent experience in the field.
- Strong communication capabilities and proficiency in problem-solving.
