Safety Officer

Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Safety Officer to join our industrial project team based in Jharsuguda, Odisha. The primary responsibility is to uphold stringent safety standards at the site, ensure all safety regulations are adhered to, and collaborate closely with the project team and labor workforce to guarantee the safe execution of all operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce site safety protocols, policies, and safe working practices.
• Perform regular inspections of the site to detect any unsafe behaviors or hazardous conditions.
• Drive corrective measures promptly and ensure closure of all safety concerns.
• Lead toolbox talks, conduct safety inductions, and organize safety awareness sessions for employees and contractors.
• Supervise compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) mandates and site safety regulations.
• Carry out and evaluate Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, and Method Statements for ongoing activities.
• Oversee all high-risk tasks ensuring adherence to approved safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.
• Implement and monitor emergency preparedness and response strategies effectively.
• Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe incidents; assist in instituting corrective and preventive measures.
• Maintain comprehensive safety documentation including daily safety logs, inspection and training records.
• Coordinate safety matters with project teams, contractors, and client representatives.
• Facilitate safety audits and inspections, both internal and client-led, ensuring timely addressing of findings.
• Foster a culture focused on safety proactively and work continuously to enhance safety outcomes on site.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).
• Certification such as ADIS, PDIS, or Diploma in Safety from SCTE & VT, Odisha.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in industrial safety practices.
• Prior experience working in the Aluminium Industry or Aluminium Plants is highly desirable.
• Experience managing industrial projects, contractors, and enforcing site safety protocols is preferred.
• Strong communication and coordination capabilities.
