Roofer Helper / Entry-Level Commercial Roofer

Position Overview

JB Roofing, part of Tecta America, seeks dependable and hardworking individuals to join their team as Roofer Helpers or Entry-Level Commercial Roofers in Worthington/Columbus, OH. This full-time role offers the opportunity to start a career in commercial roofing with no prior experience required. Candidates should be willing to learn and able to work outdoors at heights while being part of a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial roofing systems and related components.
• Adhere strictly to company and site safety protocols, including the correct use of personal protective equipment and fall protection measures.
• Gain knowledge of a variety of commercial roofing materials and systems.
• Learn how to properly operate roofing tools and equipment safely.
• Follow guidance from foremen, crew managers, and senior roofing professionals.
• Support crew with daily roofing assignments and jobsite requirements.
• Progressively understand sequence steps in roofing installations as experience grows.
• Contribute to maintaining safe, organized, and efficient job sites.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to complete projects efficiently and safely.
• Perform additional roofing-related duties as needed.

Candidate Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• No previous roofing experience is necessary; however, construction or roofing work is a plus.
• High school diploma or GED is not mandatory.
• Strong eagerness to learn on the job.
• Able and willing to work safely at heights and climb ladders.
• Comfortable working outside in a range of weather conditions.
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and a team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to follow directions and communicate well with supervisors and peers.

Training and Development

Employees will receive hands-on training in multiple roofing systems and materials, such as TPO, PVC, EPDM, Modified Bitumen, Built-Up Roofing (BUR), and Asphalt. Continuous safety, equipment, material, and fall-protection training will be provided along with career advancement opportunities within the company and its national network.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting wage at $25.94 per hour or higher, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule and Physical Demand

The typical workweek is Monday through Friday with potential overtime and occasional weekend or out-of-town assignments. Employees are usually home during evenings. The role requires physical stamina to stand and walk for long periods, climb ladders, bend, kneel, squat, balance, and lift or move items regularly up to 50 pounds while safely working at heights in varying temperatures.
