About the Role
GHD is a global leader with over 14,000 professionals offering expertise in engineering, design, and advisory services across multiple sectors including transportation. Our Doha office is expanding, and we are actively seeking a seasoned Roads Design Engineer to lead diverse road-related projects throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive designs for urban and inter-urban roads including geometrics, signing and marking, ancillary works, tunnels, complex interchanges, and service roads. This includes conducting alternatives analysis, route selection, and preparation of main bill of quantities.
- Delegate tasks and supervise junior engineers while ensuring timely acquisition of road design approvals.
- Engage with local authorities to obtain road geometry, corridor approvals, and necessary NOCs using the Common NOC System and other official channels.
- Lead submissions and liaise with local authorities to secure approvals and permits, coordinating closely with local authority engineers.
- Collaborate effectively within the design team, engage sub-consultants, and maintain client satisfaction.
- Work in partnership with the TIS consultant to secure approvals from relevant authorities.
Candidate Profile
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in road design engineering, with at least 5 years in Qatar or the Middle East region demonstrating a strong track record.
- Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; a Master’s degree is considered advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of Qatar’s local authority processes, standards, and regulatory framework relevant to road design.
- Proficiency in Civil 3D and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Mandatory MMUP registration or willingness to acquire it within six months of employment.
- Familiarity with the Qatar Highway Design Manual (QHDM) and associated approval procedures.
- Road Safety Audit certification would be beneficial.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and coordinate across disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience in obtaining NOCs, approvals, and permits from authorities.
- Strong team player with excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
