Job Overview
This role involves the installation, commissioning, and upkeep of reverse osmosis (RO) plants and associated water treatment systems. The technician will be responsible for regular inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting various RO plant issues, and ensuring smooth operation through monitoring key parameters.
Main Duties
- Install, commission, and service RO plants and water treatment equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on RO systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and resolve problems such as pressure fluctuations, low permeate flow, high total dissolved solids, membrane fouling or scaling, pump malfunctions, leaks, dosing irregularities, and faults in electrical/control panels.
- Check and maintain components including RO membranes, cartridge and multimedia filters, activated carbon filters, pumps, valves, and dosing pumps.
- Monitor operating parameters like feed pressure, permeate and reject pressure, flow rates, TDS levels, pH, and conductivity.
- Conduct membrane cleaning and cleaning-in-place (CIP) procedures when necessary.
- Carry out replacements of filters, membranes, pumps, valves, sensors, and other vital parts.
- Respond promptly to customer complaints by providing technical solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive service reports, equipment readings, maintenance logs, and track spare-part inventories.
- Coordinate with Service Engineer and Project Teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Instruct customers and operators on fundamental plant operations and upkeep methods.
- Travel to client sites to perform breakdown repairs and scheduled preventive maintenance.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols when working on customer premises.
Technical Skills and Knowledge Required
- Basic understanding of RO plant operation and maintenance principles.
- Familiarity with pumps, pressure vessels, membranes, valves, filters, and dosing mechanisms used in water treatment.
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical panels and control systems.
- Ability to interpret basic piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) and equipment layouts is beneficial.
- Understanding of water quality parameters such as total dissolved solids (TDS), pH, conductivity, hardness, and turbidity.
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience with tools and equipment standard for RO system servicing.
