About the Role

mtier Strategic HR Solutions is looking to recruit a Risk Officer for a client in the insurance sector based in the UAE. This role focuses on enhancing and managing risk frameworks to safeguard business interests within the insurance domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in establishing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's comprehensive risk management system.
  • Identify and evaluate significant business, operational, financial, and insurance-related risks continuously.
  • Maintain up-to-date risk registers, perform risk assessments, and manage control matrices effectively.
  • Collaborate with various business departments to recognize potential risks and devise suitable mitigation strategies.
  • Track key risk indicators (KRIs) and generate timely risk reports for senior management review.
  • Help assess the adequacy of internal controls and the effectiveness of risk mitigation efforts.
  • Liaise with internal teams concerning risk governance, compliance obligations, and audit processes.
  • Monitor and ensure the prompt resolution of identified risk issues and related action plans.
  • Facilitate internal and external audit processes by supplying necessary risk documentation and data.
  • Keep informed about current regulatory standards, governance requirements, and insurance industry developments.
  • Contribute to initiatives around business continuity, operational resilience, and enterprise risk management as necessary.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or closely related disciplines.
  • Between two and five years of pertinent experience, optimally within the insurance or financial services environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk management principles, internal control systems, and risk evaluation methods.
  • Demonstrated experience handling risk registers, key risk indicators, risk reporting, and the design and implementation of mitigation plans.
  • Strong analytical capabilities combined with excellent skills in documentation, communication, and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Holding professional certifications such as Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Financial Risk Management (FRM), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), ACCA, or related credentials will be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with local insurance regulations is a preferred asset.
