Job description
Role Overview
The Risk Officer will be instrumental in establishing, applying, and monitoring a comprehensive risk management system tailored to regulated financial services entities. The focus will primarily lie on alternative asset management firms and Category 3C regulated bodies within the financial sector.
Key Functions
As a vital component of the second line of defense, the officer will pinpoint, evaluate, track, and communicate critical business risks including but not limited to investment, market, liquidity, operational, regulatory, conduct, technology/cybersecurity, and third-party risks. Close collaboration with senior leadership, Compliance, and investment teams is expected to provide objective risk oversight and detailed risk reports to upper management and Board of Directors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Between five to ten years of risk management expertise within financial services.
- Extensive background in alternative asset management or investment management sectors.
- Mandatory prior engagement with Category 3C regulated entities.
- Proficient understanding of the ADGM/FSRA regulatory framework and demonstrated interaction experience with the ADGM regulator.
- Experience in DIFC/DFSA regulated environments is highly advantageous.
- Deep knowledge of risk management frameworks, governance structures, control mechanisms, operational risks, and investment-focused risk profiles.
- Skilled in designing and delivering risk assessments and reports suitable for Board members and senior management.
- Possession of a relevant academic degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or related fields.
- Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, CFA, or their equivalents are preferred.

The ideal candidate is an autonomous and commercially astute risk professional, demonstrating the ability to provide constructive challenges, uphold strong ethics and judgment, effectively communicate, and maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory compliance and risk governance related to investment management.
